lift - Ladies In Fellowship Service
activities
Ladies in Fellowship Together Plan an Active Year The ladies at Living Christ are a busy group of people, organizing and planning events for fellowship, fundraising, and enjoyment. This year they plan to hold their meetings on the second Saturday of each month beginning at 9:30 am (except December, January & April). The exceptions are related to
Christmas and Easter.
The Car Show Community Day was an event originally discussed by the ladies some time ago and developed into a very enjoyable successful event with the help of the men. Coupled with the Concessions and the Bake Sale the ladies again showed their talents and service.
The Colts Tailgate Party on September 11th is also spearheaded by our women for a time of fellowship, good food, and fun. Plan to come and enjoy.
October is a month to focus on the mission and ministry of LWML (Lutheran Women in Mission) with LWML Sunday and Mite Dedication on October 2. Our ladies will be serving as hostesses for the LWML Fall Rally for the Indianapolis West Zone with a Breakfast served prior to the Zone meeting and the speaker of the day, Amanda Milner, Director of the Fair Haven Foundation, sharing the story of the foundation. In a nutshell, Fair Haven provides housing and care for patients from areas outside the Indianapolis area who are undergoing cancer treatments and other therapies connected with their
health problems. The month will end with our annual Pumpkin Night focused
on our children and the Christian meaning for Halloween.
November brings back an event that Living Christ enjoyed a few years ago – Christmas Chili Auction Dinner. Serving a Chili Supper on November 11 or12 is the beginning of an evening of good laughs and fellowship. Items for auction – both silent and oral – will be gathered and auctioned to the highest bidder with 2 of our own members serving as auctioneers. November also includes the Food Drive for Concordia Seminary’s Food & Clothing Coop in Fort Wayne.
Decorating the church for Christmas begins the month of December. This is followed by the Christmas Cookie Walk on December 11th , and a Birthday Party celebrating Jesus’ Birthday and the birthday of our facility at Living Christ on December 18th.
All these activities are focused on the purpose of L.I.F.T. – “to encourage Christian fellowship and Christian service within our congregation and community” and “to develop mission service and mission support among our members including Christian education and inspiration.”
All women are invited to be a part of this group, to enjoy the opportunities to be of service, and so “Serve the Lord with Gladness.”
